1. Who we are and acceptance
PlainBill is provided by Asteria Works, LLC ("Asteria Works," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms form an agreement between you and Asteria Works, LLC. By accessing or continuing to use PlainBill, you agree to these Terms. If you use PlainBill for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind it.
2. The service
PlainBill uses automated tools, including generative artificial intelligence, to turn legislative text into shorter, plain-English summaries. One decode may be available without an account. PlainBill Pro provides unlimited decoding during an active subscription, subject to reasonable technical and abuse-prevention limits.
Automated outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or misleading. They are for general information only and are not legal, financial, tax, or other professional advice. You are responsible for checking the original bill and qualified sources before relying on an output or making a decision.
3. Accounts and credentials
You must provide accurate account information, keep it current, protect your credentials, and promptly tell us about suspected unauthorized use. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be legally able to enter this agreement.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use PlainBill to:
- break the law, facilitate fraud or spam, or violate another person’s rights;
- upload content you do not have the right to use;
- create unlawful content, deceptive deepfakes, hate speech, or malware;
- probe, scrape, disrupt, bypass, or interfere with the service or its security;
- circumvent usage limits, safeguards, or content filters;
- reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the service without permission; or
- attempt to manipulate the system into producing prohibited content.
We may review, refuse, filter, restrict, or remove inputs or outputs, and may cooperate with valid legal requests.
5. Content and intellectual property
Asteria Works retains all rights in PlainBill, including its software, design, documentation, and branding. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service under these Terms while your access is active.
You retain your rights in content you submit and are responsible for your prompts, source material, and use of outputs. You confirm you have the rights needed to submit that content. You grant us a limited license to host, process, reproduce, and display it only as needed to operate and improve PlainBill. Decoded bills and their summaries may be published in the public library.
Rights holders may report alleged infringement through the support channel provided with a purchase. We may remove material and suspend repeat infringers.
6. Payments, trial, and subscription
PlainBill Pro costs $9.99 per month and begins with a three-day free trial. A payment method is required when the trial starts. Unless canceled before the trial ends, the subscription renews automatically each month at the displayed price until canceled.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, renewal, cancellation, and refund mechanics are also governed by the Paddle Buyer Terms. You may cancel through the subscription-management link in PlainBill; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless applicable law requires otherwise.
7. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for a material breach, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious violations of these Terms. You may stop using PlainBill at any time. Public summaries may remain in the library after account closure unless removal is legally required. Other account data will be handled under our Privacy Notice.
8. Availability and warranties
PlainBill is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise uninterrupted, secure, or error-free performance, or that any summary will be accurate or fit for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Asteria Works will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability arising from PlainBill will not exceed the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. These limits do not apply where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence.
10. General terms
You will indemnify Asteria Works against third-party claims arising from your unlawful use, your submitted content, or your violation of these Terms. Neither party is liable for delay caused by events beyond reasonable control. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale.
Applicable law governs these Terms, without overriding consumer protections that apply where you live. Disputes will be brought in a court with lawful jurisdiction. If any term is unenforceable, the remainder stays effective. We may update these Terms and will post the revised effective date here.
